What a memorable evening this was, and it is certain to live long in the memory for all present.
What a memorable evening this was, and it is certain to live long in the memory for all present. For the milestone meeting, the lodge room was graced by many distinguished Masons, including R.W.Bro. Robert Vaughan, Provincial Grand Master, who expressed his appreciation of the quality and content of the work presented by the Brethren of Masefield Lodge. Meanwhile, many of the non-masonic guests took the opportunity to visit an adjacent lodge room, where they received a fascinating and enlightening introduction to Freemasonry, presented by Mrs. Greta Band, wife of one of Masefield Lodge’s most senior past masters, and a Lady Freemason in her own right.
The entire party then assembled in the main dining room, which had been splendidly dressed for the occasion, to enjoy a Christmas feast, presided over by V.W.Bro. Richard Price, the most senior past master of Masefield Lodge. The meal was followed by a most enjoyable musical entertainment, in the form of Waiters Encore, three wonderful singers who masqueraded as a chef, a waiter and a banqueting manager, before unexpectedly breaking into operatic arias and other rousing melodies, with the assistance of their sound engineer for the backing music. The disguise was so convincing, that before the singing began, one of our guests asked the “waiter” to bring her a little more cheese... and he did!
We should also mention the wonderful contribution to charity which was achieved on the evening, with the ever-popular tombola raising a significant proportion of the total £2500 donated by Masefield Lodge to the Province of Worcestershire’s Festival 2022. In keeping with the traditions of Masefield’s annual pre-Christmas events, the evening was concluded with carols, and a rousing rendition of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”.
