From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged. This work continues today. In addition, large sums are given to national and local charities. Masonic charity is exercised at every level; individual Lodges make gifts and give aid to their own local communities and every Province also gives large sums of money to regional causes. Nationally, our efforts are channeled through our charity organisation, the Masonic Charitable Foundation
At a more local level, Masefield Lodge makes donations to organisations such as St. Mary's Hospice, Macmillan Nurses, Meningitis Research, Cancer Research. It should also be noted that donations are always Strictly Charitable.
We also help to fund vital services such as hospices and air ambulances and regularly contribute to worldwide appeals for disaster relief. In total, our support helps to improve the lives of thousands of people every year in England, Wales and internationally.
Funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, the Masonic Charitable Foundation is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country.
